Speech-Language Evaluations
A formal evaluation of speech and language skills includes testing of articulation, oral mechanism, expressive language, receptive language, pragmatic language, language processing, voice, and fluency. Standardized measures, informal measures, medical history report, and parent report are used to assess skills. Results are analyzed to determine if therapeutic services are needed. Speech-Language Therapy *on-site and off-site at various private schools and private preschools in the area. Speech-Language Consultations Meet with a specialist to answer any questions you may have regarding speech and language skills, assessments, and/or services available. Speech-Language and Hearing screenings *on-site and off-site at various private schools and private preschools in the area. Screenings are informal measures of a child's speech and language skills using a screening test based on developmental norms and data. A screening will indicate if further evaluation is required. If so, you will need to schedule a Speech-Language Evaluation to formally assess skills. Hearing screenings are performed with an audiometer. Hearing screenings are also an informal measure of a child's hearing ability. Results of the screening will indicate if a need for a formal Audiological evaluation is warranted. You will be referred to an Audiologist if further evaluation is needed. In services and Professional Development Conferences In-services are available for teachers and various organizations. Professionals will receive a certificate of attendance for continuing education hours. Parents are always welcomed and encouraged to attend. Social Skills Groups: Social skill groups will focus on various pragmatic language (social language) skills in a group setting. Atlantic Speech Therapy developed one of the first local social skills groups for children in the Hampton Roads area in 2004. The Social Butterflies Club™ is not like other "social skills groups". We incorporate speech, language, fine motor, gross motor, sensory integration, and academics into ONE program! Our social groups have been so successful that we have children driving from various cities and states to attend weekly! FEES FOR SERVICES:
